How to get the iPad Pro 2020 to show in finder

How to get the iPad Pro 2020 to show in finder, comes with USB-C cable but never shows in finder when plugged into iMac 5k. My older iPad with USB has no issues

iPad Pro, iPadOS 13

I figured it out. The second USB-c connection on the back of the iMac 4K works

Ok and the cable is plugged straight into the port on the Mac and is not plugged into a dongle etc? iPad is also unlocked?

Yes that is correct. The iPad shows charging but does not show in the finder
