Captain Plug-ins

Hi all,

I've just installed Captain plugins (Captain Chords, Beat etc.) but they don't show up in Garageband.

They are installed in the components folder.

Did I do something wrong?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Brian,

Thanks for your response!

On the same MacBook I have installed Ableton Live and as you can see there are 3 plugins that appear in Ableton audio units folder: Mixed in Key, Plugin Boutique and FrozenPlain that don't appear in the Garageband Audio Units folder. Strange!

I followed the procedure that was described by The Garageband Guide (https://youtu.be/Kb8YiP8W5DM), although when restarted, Garageband is loading the plugins, but it still cannot find the above mentioned plugins. (by the way, I was not able to find the com.apple.audiounits.cache file - not in the 'hidden library' as well - but i did find the com.apple.audiounits.sanboxed.cache file!).

After a quick Google search i came to the conclusion that quite a few people are experiencing the same problem so i guess it must be possible to find a solution! :-).

Hey there, koudstaal.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities! Thanks for posting about the custom plugins you installed within GarageBand not working quite as expected. We'd be glad to get you pointed in the right direction.

Is GarageBand working correctly other than the missing plugins that you installed? We just want to make sure we fully understand the issue. If the plugins are the only issue currently, we did some checking online and were able to locate How to: Captain Plugins - Mixed In Key which may be helpful to you in terms of locating where to find and activate those plugins. It appears they also have an email for technical support inquiries available on the Mixed In Key Community page as well.

Take care.
