Why can’t I monitor without hitting record?

When I have a track input monitored, I can hear it back until I press play. I can only play along with my monitored signal when I hit record. Why does this happen and how can I fix it?

Input monitoring while playing the recorded track I have enabled input monitoring on the channel I'm using for vocals. The singer wants to hear some reverb (and is OK with the latency). On headphones we can hear the reverb when the track is stopped and when we are actually recording onto the track but cannot hear any reverb if I press 'play' without recording (i.e. when practising). I've tried using the reverb as an audio effect on the channel, as a send (using a bus) and I've tried sending the whole signal via a bus. None of these seem to make any difference. Can anyone help?

Can't hear my track when I try to play it back on logic pro X Hello, It's been a while now that I've been having issues with logic pro X. I am using a plug in and when I record, I can hear the notes fine but once I try to play it back, I cannot hear anything. I tried so many things but as I am still new to logic so I am sure there are stuff I haven't tried yet. I would really appreciate any help I can get as I've been trying to fix this problem for two weeks now :(

Hey there,

Have you tried playing with the settings in Preferences?

Input Monitoring should get you there.
