Macbook 2011 update issues

I currently have a Macbook Air 2011. It is on version EL Capitan but I require at least the Mojave version for the work I have to do. Is this possible to upgrade as it is telling me I can't? Do I have to buy a new macbook 2021 to use the apps i want to use.

The 2011 MacBook Air cannot run a MacOS version greater than MacOS High Sierra (10.13). Your ten-year-old Mac cannot run MacOS Mojave.

It's time to upgrade your hardware.
