Upgrade my OS on my MacBook Air

Hi, I am using a MacBook Air that is from mid 2011. Presently my OS is Sierra. I am trying to update it to Mojave. I followed the instructions to update the software but in the App store it says there are no updates. What am I doing wrong? Thank you.
