Do you see the drive mounted in the disk utilities app?
Your sidebar might also simply not be showing it. You can try to make it visible by going to Finder > Preferences > and under General check Hard Disks to make drives visible on the desktop and then put a checkmark next to everything in the Sidebar tab.
