Birthdays not on calendar

I have birthdays listed on my contacts but they are not showing up on my calendar.

iPhone 12, iOS 14

the only suggestion I could find is from within the Calendar app..

Select Calendars in the bottom center. Scroll thru those items and make sure Birthdays is checked.
