SD Card not showing in Sidebar (Big Sur, multiple computers)

This Apple Support (for Big Sur) page says, "Eject an SD card: In the sidebar of a Finder window, select the card, then choose File > Eject. After the card’s icon disappears from the sidebar, remove the card from the slot."


SD cards do not appear in the sidebar on either my iMac or my MacBook Pro. How do I make them show up?

We recommend trying to rename the SD card from the Desktop and testing the issue again. If the issue persists, test in safe mode. Starting in safe mode allows your Mac to run certain checks, remove caches, and prevent login items from automatically launching. This can isolate possible third party issues. Use the steps and information in the link below for assistance with safe mode:
