ipod touch help needed

hi,

i have an old iPod touch that i haven't used in years, but i believe it has data (such as photos and iMessages) that i would really like to have. Currently when i try and use the ipod on the lock screen it says "iPod is disabled connect to itunes"

i tried connecting it to itunes on my laptop a message popped up saying "Do you want to allow this computer to access information on this iPod touch?" i click to allow it to do so, but then another message pops up and says, "To allow access, please respond on your Ipod touch..." my ipod doesnt have anything for me to respond to. it just stays the same disabled state the whole time.

i would really like some help.

If you don't have a backup on your computer, you are out of luck. You can follow these instructions to activate your iPod, but it will erase everything on it, defeating your purpose. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT211080
