Apple TV 4 Siri remote won’t go up and down

Siri remote won’t go up and down

I can go right and left but whenever I try to go up and or down to navigate Apple TV or HBO max whenever I go up or down it says off on off on. Rendering it completely unusable. Have tried to unplug it and plug it back in trick 1000 times reset the remote and repaired it 1000 times. What the **** is wrong? No I don’t have accessibility turned on no I didn’t mess with any settings. Searching the web haven’t found anything in the last couple years about this so I’m very frustrated. Any help would be appreciated
