Zoom Crashing Network on MacBook Pro

I'm having trouble with Zoom Meetings on my new MacBook Pro (running Catalina 10.15.6). I'm the host of a Zoom meeting with 26 participants. Without fail, about 5 minutes into each meeting - my entire network shuts off. I'm hard-wiring in with an ethernet cable, and usually experience no trouble. When the network shuts off, I can't access the LAN line or Wifi until I restart the computer. Has anyone else had this issue or know a work-around? (I have a back up PC running in the meeting and that keeps its connection consistently). I've been in touch with my Internet service provider, and all seems good there. I'm running the latest update of Zoom too. Could it all be a bandwidth issue that goes back to my Internet Service provider? Or is it something to do with Zoom and the computer?

I've got a Satechi USB hub (Thunderbolt 3 port) with ethernet cable attached to my MacBook Pro 2020 (Big Sur). It will work all day long providing stable internet, but reacts the same way with Zoom. Complete failure, and all internet connection shuts down, while we have extensively troubleshooted tracking the IP address: everything looks fine. This happened three times to me today already.

I know this is an old post, but I do have one possible tip: unplugging the Satechi hub from the port keeps me from having to restart my computer. Then wi-fi picks up and Zoom continues.

(None of this ever occurred with my 2013 MacBook Pro. Absolutely 100% reliable with ethernet cable connection.)

I am having the same problem and using a new Macbook pro running the Big Sur.

I did not have this problem if I join someone else's zoom meeting. It only happens if I am the host, not sure why it would make a difference.

5-10 mins into the meeting I am kicked off and have to restart the computer to even use internet again.

I log into zoom with my ipad as a back up, and have no problems, so I know it's not an issue of my home internet provider.

I do have a multiport plugged in to use a bigger monitor, will have to try without it plugged in to make sure it's doesn't interfere with the wifi.

I have an active ticket with Zoom on this issue. To this point we've gone back and forth and gotten as far as its a socket drop and do a clean install of the Zoom client and blah blah blah. I have five of my users reporting issues similar to those shared here. One user was repeatedly booted after one minute of connection. It happened 20+ times, equally on WiFi and ethernet. Meetings immediately before and after were normal for her. So it seems this is a known issue, just not by Zoom.

This is so frustrating. Same here. Have changed the switch and 2 hubs - and waiting for a third one (Uni 8-in-one) that does work with the M1 MBA (had same issue with Intel MBA 2020). The iPad Pro worked with one of the two hubs (Ethernet). And yep, IT people are confounded. The MBs did connect (green dot in Network Prefs), but no internet (Ethernet). As we mentioned earlier, WiFi works great, but not reliable for our purposes.

Same issue with a 2020 MacBook Pro 2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i5.

Using wired and wireless connections (Airport Extreme with 2 Airport Express Gen1 and 1 Airport Express Gen2 bridged via Ethernet cable). Everything works fine except Zoom; kicks me out in 5-10 minutes everytime.

My network setup:

Rogers Ignite Gateway (xb6) Ignite 500/20Mbs service (bridge mode, wifi off)

⬇️

(via ethernet) Airport Extreme

⬇️

8 port gigabit switch

↙️ ⬇️ ↘️

airport Exp Gen1 (main floor hall) 5 port gigabit switch Air Exp Gen2 (kitchen)

↙️ ↘️

Ethernet cable in office to MBP Airport Exp Gen 1(for 2nd floor bedrooms wifi)

I'm thinking that Zoom has an issue with ethernet switches. If I disable the 5 port switch and plug directly to the Airport Exp Gen1 upstairs and use wifi for Zoom, it works fine.

I'd much prefer the stability and speed of ethernet though. I've tried it with my wife's 2020 MacBook Air i7 and it's the same thing.

Thinking it's a software issue with Catalina and the Zoom desktop client app.

I am having the same issue, but with BlueJeans and Skype in meetings! These programs are eating up my CPU % and CPU Time like crazy, causing my fan to run hard and then i eventually get notifications that say i am having internet connectivity issues. I've gone through all troubleshooting with my internet provider and apple, and they are telling me it may be a hardware issue? Which i don't understand. I've had my macbook pro for 4 years, never any issues until the past few days. I am able to participate in meetings with my video and mic off, and then i've been calling in, but as soon as i turn one of those functions on i have the same issues.

Macbook Pro2016 on BigSur every time while broadcasting with OBS connected with ethernet after 10 minutes or longer it shuts the whole Internet until I restart the router. Talked multiple times with ISP, they see nothing but the disconnections, changed router, ethernet adaptor, ethernet cable and now I am here. Hopefully there will be a solution soon, Wifi is not ideal to broadcast :/

Yes, this is the same problem I am having. Zoom works fine on my home wifi and it works fine with a PC on the office network, but with my MacBook Air using Big Sur it crashes my connection to the office network every time I use it. Zoom with my Mac on the office network is non-functional. I have to reboot and stay off Zoom to be functional again. HELP!

I am wireless and it happens all the same, my husband even added a link to my office to increase wifi strengths and it happens. I know it's not an internet issue because it only happens with zoom. At first I thought it could be the kids using bandwidth while watching Netflix, so we tried with no one using the internet and it happens all the same.

It only happens when I am hosting a meeting and I have also noticed it does not happen as much during my office hours when I have max 1 student in the zoom meeting at a time.

So now I am wondering if it's an incompatibility with zoom/MacOs when I have a full room of people.

I did not have this problem last year when running smaller zoom meetings.

Very frustrating because I cannot seem to pinpoint the problem and fix it.

Thinking I might have to buy another computer :( as I cannot afford to have this issue.
