Why doesn’t Apple Pencil gen 2 work with iPad 10”?

Simple; different hardware for a different platform.


The first generation Apple Pencil both pairs with - and charges from - the iPad using a Lightning connector. By contrast, the second generation Apple Pencil uses an inductive interface for charging and an entirely different pairing mechanism.


Other than use of Bluetooth, the two different versions of Apple Pencil and compatible models of iPad use entirely different interface technologies.
