I’m paying 79p a month for cloud storage but it keeps telling me I have no room left for my photos but I can upgrade for 79p per month !!
so my question is ‘what am I paying for at the moment?’

The iCloud storage will allow you store your photo library, files, and backup data. But it doesn't automatically clean up space in the hard storage on your phone. You have to do that manually.
