I upgraded to Malwarebytes Premium on my Mac and "allowed full disc" access. My hard drive crashed! I had to erase and restore my hard drive. Now I hesitate to even install the upgraded Malwarebytes software in the free version, which also is asking for "full disc access." Is there a conflict between Malwarebytes and Apple? Do I even need Malwarebytes protection?

You don't need the pro version which runs constantly in the background. I don't have it running in the background as it uses system resources and only run it if I think I might have installed adware or malware.

No. Don't install adware. If you screw up and install adware anyway, it's easily uninstalled without installing something else.
To learn how to recognize adware so that you are not deceived into installing it, read How to install adware.
You only need it if you suspect adware or malware; and, no, I've used it along with many others here and I have never heard of a conflict. However, I'd suggest you visit their support site and ask your question there.
Have you run any "cleaning", "optimizing", "speed-up" or anti-virus apps?
