Is Malwarebytes safe and secure?

Especially it would want to access full local disc to scan..

And, actually do we really need any similar software to be installed in our iMac?

You should not need MalwareBytes at all. You should just not install Adware or Malware.

Learn how to properly use a computer while connected to the Internet and you don't need anything else.

Yes MalwareBytes is Safe to use, but you really do not need to do anything except occasionally run the free version.
