Downloading OS Error

Hello-

I have been doing this for the past week... I am trying to download El Capitan on my old MacBook Pro 2011. I keep getting same error. When I go to command + R to repair my disk, sometimes it will repair and then sometimes it has an error. I don’t know if my hard drive is failing or I need to do something else..

error when downloading capitan....

OS X could not be downloaded your computer

File system verify or repair failed

Quit installler and try again

(I am running a bootable El Capitan from my USB)

Repair the Drive for El Capitan or Later

Restart the computer. Immediately, at or before the chime, hold down the Command and R keys until the Apple logo and progress bar appear. Wait until the Utility Menu appears.
Select Disk Utility and press the Continue button.
Then select the indented (usually, Macintosh HD) volume entry from the side list.
Click on the First Aid button in the toolbar and wait for the Done button to activate. Click on it, then quit Disk Utility.
Select Restart from the Apple menu.

Note that if you have any El Capitan installer on your disk in the Applications folder, you will not be able to download it from the App Store. Of course, if you have a copy, then there is no need for downloading it. The App Store will not let you download a version of macOS earlier than the last compatible version that is supported by your hardware. For your model that would be High Sierra.
