App store says it cannot find Catalina (update not available)

If you are using Mojave then you should find the Catalina upgrade in System Preferences> Software Update.
Also did you try the link I posted earlier, How to upgrade to macOS Catalina – Apple Support
go to Section 4 and click on Get macOS Catalina. Make sure you use Safari as your browser.

That's the crux of my problem. When I do that I get the message that it cannot find Catalina and the update is not available. I know it's there because when I look for system updates on my wife's identical MacBook, it says to update to Catalina. Mine simply says my system is up to date with Mojave 10.14.6.
