iCloud Family Sharing

I am the "Organizer" for Family Sharing. My 16 year old son's iPhone shows up in "My Devices" in iCloud Settings. It says that I'm signed into his device as well as my own iPhone, but he has his own Apple ID that he is signed into on his phone. This is creating many problems such as his photo shows up as my photo ID and his contact names override mine etc. If I sign out of his device will he lose any data that may be stored in iCloud? And will he no longer be on my Family sharing for things like iTunes?

Below are two articles on family sharing. Maybe you will see something I couldn't, but from What I see, it hard to see how your situation might develop.

This read is about leaving family sharing. Maybe you could have your son leave the group for a short while and then add him back being sure everything is done just right.
