Screenshot disappears on iMac running Catalina

Whenever I take a screenshot, the photo appears on my desktop for a few moments, then it evaporates. I can't find it anywhere. Anyone else had this problem?

Take screenshots or screen recordings on Mac:

Click on the "Options⌄" selection to choose the desired "Save to" location for the screenshot.

Screenshots have disappeared Does anyone know why my Screenshots do not automatically appear on my desktop anymore? At first, I would take one, it would be displayed for a short instance then I'd select 'done' and it would save to the desktop. Now, I hear the camera sound but there's no visual after that, I can't even locate the screenshots anywhere. screenshot doesn't put image on desktop When I use Shift-Command-4 to take a partial screenshot of my iMac screen, the png image does not appear on the desktop. I found it in trash instead. Yesterday, my first day on Catalina, the png file appeared on the desktop many minutes after I took the screenshot, not immediately as expected.

Check System Preferences > Apple ID > iCloud > iCloud Drive: Options… Is Desktop & Documents Folders enabled? If so, the screenshots would be moved to the Desktop in your iCloud Drive. If you are running Dropbox, they could be being moved to your Dropbox folder. Other than those options, I don't know.
