How can I open a program by an unknown developer?

I am trying to open a program (OpenCPM), but I am receiving this message: “OpenCPN” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. How can I open it?

“node” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer. This message repeatedly appears and does not shut off once I click 'ok'. I can't find a file titled node and nothing seems to work under security and privacy 'open anyway'. Any ideas?
