I'm trying to do a voice over in iMovie using the built in mic on a MacBook pro I've made sure the input and output are set to built in....but even though I get the countdown it doesn't record. when the window is open that shows the sound it is picking up sounds. Why won't it record? Please help!

Go to System Preferences/Security and Privacy/Privacy/Microphone and add iMovie in the box to allow it to access the microphone. That should cure your problem.
