Recently, My Apple TV will no longer turn on with the remote. The remote is charged. If I remove and reinsert the power cord the Apple TV blinks and turns on. I tried resetting the Apple TV but it did not help.

There have been a number of complaints about this. However it appears that using the touchpad will no longer turn on the ATV, you have to press the Home or Menu buttons. If those don't work either then it's to be hoped that a firmware update (which has been suggested is in the pipeline) will fix it.
Thanks, it works! I will use this workaround. This is a sign of what’s happening at Apple unfortunately. I bought an iPad Pro and it came with a cable that only charges it. Pay their premium price and I have to buy a cable to sync it? They want you to use Airdrop and NFC but it doesn’t do a good job. Their software updates are a joke. Two or three iterations are needed before they get it right? What happened to quality and testing your products rather than having the public do the work for you? Apple is not the same company I started out with. Steve Jobs would fire the lot of these yahoos.
I have to say I prefer the touchpad not turning it on - it was too easy to turn it on by accident if you picked the remote up to move it. Or sneezed near it.
