Error Message about Autosave

Why do I occasionally get an error message when I create a new document and make changes to it, "The document could not be autosaved. You don't have permission to write to the folder that the file is in." This makes no sense. I have created all the folders and documents. Why does Pages think I don't have permission?

The File menu : Duplicate will change to File menu : Save As… when you also use the option key as I mentioned previously. The Save As… panel has a miniminal view ^ or maximal view v adjacent to the destination selector.

With Pages, I duplicated a file in a Documents folder. It let me do that. Then when I attempted to make some changes to the new file, I got the error message. Note that I was able to repeat the process and get another duplicate of that same file to work just fine. [I then deleted the one giving me trouble.] This happens occasionally, about 1 out of 100 times. {I create thousands of files and most work fine. It's just beginning to annoy me and I'd like to know why it happens.]

I don't know why. I never duplicate a Pages document but rather, use option + File menu : Save As… instead of Duplicate and that alternative form of duplication may silence Autosave for you.

Also, become familiar with File menu : Revert To > Browse All Versions… which lets you continue to edit the same document, but revisit an earlier revision of it with an interface representative of a Time Machine Restore.

I don't see a "Save As" option on the Menu other than "Save as Template" which won't get me what I want. I do see a Revert To option, though since this happens upon my first change to a newly created document, that doesn't seem helpful. For now, I can go to the trouble of creating a second duplicate and deleting the first. Fortunately, it doesn't happen often. Maybe some day I'll figure out what causes it.
