smtp server

Greetings, I'm having problems sending emails from my Mac account. I get a message telling me my iCloud account is offline and that their has been a problem connecting to the outgoing server and port. I can receive emails and use browser with no problem.

ICloud SMTP servers Ive been not getting emails so I checked my settings. I’ve noticed in my mail I’m now connected to a server. SMTP iCloud and some options I can’t change. They are light grey and impossible to respond. Is there a reason why I have a port,server,and all these extras going on

Failing email / SMTP connection I've been unable to send or receive emails as I'm getting a message that the SMTP connection to the server has failed. I may have changed something on my Mac by mistake, as it's a long-standing email account ( Virgin) and there are no other interconnectivity issues. Any advice?
