cracked MacBook Pro screen, not on glass on black bar below screen

I recently shut my MacBook pro not realising that my phone charger was on the keyboard and have just noticed that it has made a crack in, not the screen of my display, but that black bar beneath where it reads "MacBook Pro". Is there anything that can be done to fix this? I have done a bit of reading about it and have read a few sources that state that I may need to replace the whole LCD portion of my laptop, Is this true?

Yes, the entire screen needs to be replaced at the very least.

Make an appointment at the Apple Genius Bar for service. If you need to find an Apple Store - Find a Store - Apple. Also, see How to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Distributor (AAD).
