Connecting a 2012 27" iMac to a brand new 27" iMac
I have an old 2012 iMac that cannot update to Mojave but is running High Sierra
I just purchased a brand new iMac.
I have two issues.
1) I have two drobos that are connected to my old iMac via 800 firewire. The new iMac does not have an 800 firewire connection.
2) I would like to use my old iMac (2012) as a second display and hard drive.
If I use the old iMac in Target mode as a second display, can I still access it’s hard drive and the drobos connected to it or would it just be a 2nd display?
(also … what would I need to connect it)
If not, is there a way to somehow connect 800 firewire to USB-C?
I just can’t afford to replace my drobos at this point but they have all of my media and photos (terabytes).
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
