Mac Pro 3.5 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon W - beachball performance lag

Mac user for 20+ yrs, I notice my Mac Pro has been displaying the beachball and or the wristwatch when I do certain tasks.

Sequoia 15.6.1

My hard drive is

2TB with 110 GB Free

I ran first aid - its fine.


I do have some other drives plugged in

1 - 8TB with 2 partions has 390 GB Free internal.

1 8TB with 715 GB free


I ejected those BUT DID NOT REBOOT - problem is still there.


Needs further troubleshooting

any help?

I'd try the reboot with no external drives so the computer does not have to poll the extra drives. I have seen cases where an unhappy external drive enclosure slowed overall performance.


Is internal storage original or a latter upgrade? Sometimes, upgrading to an aftermarket SSD can after a while start to show slow drive performance if TRIMforce is not enabled. Beach-balling can be a symptom of underperforming storage. There's a safe way for you to show us you drive performance and other potential configuration issues.
