Recording in 32 bit float, 48K. All tracks out of sync

Greetings. First, I’m using Logic 11.2.1 with a Mac Studio M2 Max with 64 GB of RAM, running Sequoia 15.5. I have a project to do a mock up of a classic R&B tune. It needs to be done in 32 bit float, 48K, 122BPM. I set up my Logic project to those settings. Then I imported the stereo reference track I was given into Logic so I could build my mock up.

From there, I used all of Logic’s own soft-synths to build the tracks. When I was finished with the tracks I started doing Bounces of the individual soft synth tracks to convert them to audio files. When I bounced the tracks to render them as audio files, I set Logic to bounce to 32 bit float, 48K, “Include Audio Tail” (tried it both ways), made sure song length was correct. When I reimported the bounced audio files to the same project to double check my bounces, they were all out of sync, sped up…totally unusable. Tried both offline and realtime bounces.

I also tried importing the rendered audio files into a fresh new project set to the correct settings. No go.

There’s only one thing I can think of. The reference track I was given by the producer was an MP3 file which I imported. Could that be throwing things out of whack?

Strangely enough, the bounced audio files sound fine when played in Music (iTunes) or directly from the desktop. So as wave files they are fine. It’s only after they are reimported do they get whacked. Thoughts anyone?

  1. How did you determine the starting point of the bounce? The most easiest and safest way is to create a cycle in the Main Window.
  2. Have you tried to export your tracks instead of bouncing? You can export several tracks in one go.

When I bounced the tracks to render them as audio files, I set Logic to
bounce to 32 bit float, 48K, “Include Audio Tail” (tried it both ways),
made sure song length was correct.

It seems your original session wasn't set to 48k?

• How are the files out of sync? Don't the have the same starting point?

• Make sure the project original project and the new project only use "Keep Tempo" as Tempo Mode. Also don't use VariSpeed or similar.

• Make sure the Sample Rate is the same in all projects and matches with the audio files. Look in the Project Audio Window. I highly recommend to display the sample rate in the Display Bar at the top of the Main Window.

It shouldn't be a problem but double check, if the mp3 matches with the sample rate of the project.

Mp3 players don't care about sample rate and bit rate. They play everything.
