Apple Watch Series 6 screen stuck on temperature warning after swimming

My series 6 watch started overheating when I was on holiday, it did not feel hot but the warning came up anyway. It was left in a cool room for 3 days, the warning remained there. (even placing it in the fridge for a day)

I have tried to reset which is when it came up with the charging symbol but will intermittently switch between the charge and the temperature warning.

I was having a swim at the time, water lock was on and workout for outdoor swim and then the screen started to freeze and the temp warning came.

it has been 5 days, any advice is greatly appreciated :)

Has the battery ever been replaced by Apple?

Looks like the watch can't charge anymore, which can also be caused by water ingress during swimming.

The Water Lock does not make your watch water resistant, it is just used to expel the water from the openings after swimming.

And, the water resistance of an Apple Watch can diminish over time, depending on the age and use of the watch.

Water damage can not be fixed. Getting the watch replaced would be the only option, if you are willing to pay the service fee:
