I just purchased a IMac and it won’t stay connected to internet after a couple of minutes…all other devices in the home work fine…thoughts

Another thing to try is to shut down your modem, router and iMac. Then restart them in this order: modem - router - iMac.
Then check to see if there's any improvement.

I forgot to ask: how is your iMac connected to the internet: via WiFi or by Ethernet cable? If by WiFi and you're close enough to the modem I suggest you try connecting via Ethernet cable, CAT 6, 7 or 8, It's more reliable.
