Matched AAC files in iTunes Match now appear as "Purchased AAC audio file" when downloaded.

I've been an iTunes Match subscriber for a few years, and recently, my matched music appears as "Purchased AAC audio file" rather than "Matched AAC audio file" when downloaded to my PC. Can this bug be fixed? It's really messing with my carefully organized smart playlists. :)

That sounds fine, but I can see issues perhaps if you were to copy such tracks into a partner's library with Apple Music/iTunes Match where they might now be excluded from the cloud library when previously they would not have been.

Most peculiar. I guess you can be thankful they haven't become protected AAC files. I cannot think of an obvious mechanism that would cause this to happen. You can try reaching out to Apple Support to see if they have an explanation and/or resolution. Ideally you would still have backups of the original files such that any mismatch or accidental deletion might be restored.

Hi,

has begun to happen to me since July 7. Anything matched before this date were downloaded as Matched AAC but anything re-downloaded since then including ones added recently added, show as Purchased AAC. Additionally file date now shows my name against purchased by. Unlike actual purchased music, date purchased is not shown.
