To maintain the thunderbolt and other external connections, disable Automatic computer sleep and only allow the display(s) to turn off.

As a test

Turn On "Prevent automatic sleeping when display is off"

Set "Turn display off when inactive" to 5 or 10 minutes

Leave the Mac Mini On and only allow the display(s) to turn Off

Do not manually Sleep from the Apple Drop Down menu

Shut Down the Mac when away for a day or more

Thanks for your tentative help, but doesn't work. I turned off all kind of sleepiness from the Mac, via System Controls, but no way. BTW I am not the only affected user, of course I ride the web looking for help, and found many many users with that same kind of problem. Mainly complaining about external displays, and a lot of replies trying to solve the problem on the "faultive display", with no use. My peripheral is a sound card, I have even broken its TB plug by unplug/replug hundreds times. Searching through many requests, the only plausible clue is a problem with MacOS management of the Thunderbolt. Some discussion on Reddit. In despair, though knowing Apple is not much interested in reading the blog on its own site, I throw a bottle with the message...
