Adding Songs to a Playlist Clearing Play Queue in Apple Music

Update to this: adding ANYTHING to a playlist while something is playing clears the queue I've learned. Rather than simply clicking on the options icon next to the song that's playing and adding it to a playlist that way, I manually searched the song and added it from the album it lives in and still clears the queue.

Second update: I've even tried adding songs to the playlist through my Apple Music app on my iPhone and it still clears the queue on my Mac...

So far the only workaround I've found is waiting till that song is done playing to go back and add to my playlist. For example, Song A is currently playing and I'd like to add to my playlist - wait till Song B plays before going back and adding Song A to my playlist
