Can I transfer eSIM before iPhone trade-in, and is the trade-in price fixed?

Hello , I'm French , on vacation in the USA in 10 days .

I would like to buy an iPhone 16 pro Max I come from an iPhone XS .

I will go to Apple Store in Delaware

I know about the 1 year warranty and the eSIM .

I would like to make a Trade in and he says 95 usd.

Is the price negotiable in the Apple Store?

Will I be able to do the eSIM transfer before giving my XS?

Is the wifi in the Apple Store fast enough to set up on the spot?

Thanks

For the warranty, Apple Store France tells me: iPhone US are guaranteed in France just that in case of major failure there is a delay of 15 days to 21 days because they send the iPhone to the U.S.

OK. But NOT a risk I'd be willing to take. It's your money, do as you wish with it.

This is the warranty which applies to iPhone --> Legal - iOS Warranty Document Us - Apple

Clearly stated is the following:

"IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE, iPAD, APPLE TV, HOMEPOD, AND APPLE VISION PRO SERVICE.

Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, HomePod, and Apple Vision Pro to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device."

Having been on this forum for more than decade every day, we see so many people who bought their iPhone in a country they don't live and they were denied warranty support. Apple sells iPhone by region. The US model is NOT the same as the EU model. Again, your money and you can spend it however you want. Just don't come here complaining if something goes wrong and you are ultimately denied warranty support.

My operator has the Rapid eSIM transfer, they told me I can do it anywhere in the world because it's a local transfer between 2 iPhones and not a full activation or a SIM to eSIM change. You have to be connected to the network in the operator's country.

web apple : eSIM's quick transfer feature lets you transfer your old iPhone's phone number to your new iPhone, without having to contact your operator.

Is the price on the Apple trade site the same as in the Apple Store?

Yes, the trade value is the same in-store or on-line. But that value is not guaranteed until your phone has been evaluated and there is no damage or obvious issues seen with the phone.

Also, please be advised, a phone purchased in the US, will not have warranty in the EU. Apple Warranty specifically says it may be limited to the country of purchase. This may not be an issue if you regularly visit the US. But if you don't and the phone has a warranty issue, you may be denied warranty support in France. It is ALWAYS advisable to buy your iPhone in the country you live and will use it.
