How to fix 700dB white noise issues in Logic Pro after update?
I can see by reading through older posts that this is a long-standing issue. Just wanted to confirm that this still happens as of Sequoia 15.5. I'm using a 2021 M1 16-inch MacBook and was running Logic 11.1.2 (since updated to 11.2).
I just imported an MP3 file into my session during playback and I suddenly got an incredibly loud burst of noise in my left ear from the newly created track. My master meter read that the volume was over 700dB above 0. My left ear is ringing and incredibly sensitive now.
I'm travelling at the moment so I was not using an external DAC, I was just outputting directly to my Sennheiser HD650s via the headphone jack. My I/O buffer size was 512 samples. I had DaVinci Resolve open at the same time although it was not playing back. Totally normal stuff which has never caused me issue before.
Besides DaVinci Resolve, I could possibly attribute it to updating to Sequoia after using Sonoma for about a year. I know some people have blamed third party plug-ins but I don't see how that would affect the MP3 I was importing to a fresh track without any plug-ins on it.
I already gave feedback to Apple but besides that I don't really know what to do, most of the solutions I've seen seem outdated. Is there a consensus on how to solve the issue now?
