iOS Music App Resets View/Index Frequently

I have an iPhone 16 Pro, running iOS 18.5.

When using the iOS Music application, where I have over 9,000 songs, I will sometimes pause -- lock the phone for a while (run into the store, etc.) but I am finding that frequently when I open the phone to resume, the current view (or index) I am at within the song listing completely resets to the beginning. This is a new behavior -- new as in since at least the last 2 updates of iOS. I believe this happens also while within a normal Playlist.

Rebooting the phone has no impact on this symptom.

It is a different behavior than before, where I could reliably resume where I left off. Have I run across a bug? If this is a feature, I can't imagine what it solves.

Has anyone else been impacted by this? What might be happening that is causing it?
