Yet again my iPhone Bluetooth connection to My Abbott FreeStyle Libre blood sugar monitor has stopped working after an update to iOS version 18.5
This is a serious medical problem. I now have no warning of hypos or hypers. Come on Apple. Get a grip!

Ahhh, the Apple makes the phone, so if something doesn't work, even if Apple has nothing to do with what doesn't work, it HAS to be Apple's fault, right? Only Apple doesn't own Abbott's FreeStyle Libre monitor, nor their app. So Apple has nothing to do with this. Abbott has a storied history of not updating their tools when new iOS updates come out. And Apple provides ALL developers the Application Protocol Interface (API) to ALL App Developers in advance of an iOS update. Only Apple can't make a company they don't own or control update their app in any way. And Apple can't touch a 3rd party application as they'd be sued if they even tried.
So where does that leave you? Do you still want to blame Apple? You can, but you'd be completely wrong for doing so. Contact Abbott and complain to them. Over the years, we've seen this over and over and over with them. Some people have abandoned Abbott and gone with a competitor because their apps get updated and just work for them.
