iCloud photos syncing to wrong user on Windows 11

I recently had to swap out my hard drive, which meant reinstalling a lot of programs. In the case of iCloud, the app has decided that all photos will sync with an old, unused user name on my C: drive. How do I change it to the correct user name?

I get an error message in the cmd line, where it says it can't find the path. I don't seem to have the folder created in the 1st place, to then redirect with symlink, by following these instructions. When I delete the iCloud Photos folder inside the Pictures folder, this means the symlink can't seem to find it either. Any ideas on a workaround for this? Happy to submit more information about what I see on screen. This is such an issue, I am seriously thinking of cancelling my Apple One subscription over it and just switching over to Google.

My MacBook Pro does not allow me to sync photos to iCloud When opening iCloud settings, I am going to the sync this Mac in photos. When I go to switch it on, it asks for my password. After typing in the password and pressing enter, nothing happens. Gets caught in that loop. Info shows wrong laptop below. It's the 14" M4 Max with latest OS. Just purchased. [Re-Titled by Moderator]

iMac Stopped Syncing Photos with iCloud A few days ago the Photos app on my iMac stopped syncing with my iCloud account. My iPad and my iPhone are still syncing perfectly, so I know it's a problem on the iMac. When I checked the status of my iCloud account in settings, for some reason it was switched to "off' for Photos. It therefore seemed like an easy fix - switch it on, put my password in and off we go. If only! I moved the toggle switch to "on" and entered my password, but the toggle switch merely reverted back to "off". I tried restarting my iMac, but the process failed the same way. I tried signing out of and back into my iCloud account - it now won't accept any changes to the toggle switch and doesn't get as far as asking for my password. I'm stuck. Any suggestions out there for how to get around this? 🙏🏻
