Video issues during FaceTime calls on Apple TV

I have an Apple TV 4k and had been using it for Facetime calls using Continuity Camera and an iPhone for the best part of a year with no problems. However, about a month ago, it stopped showing the person I'm calling's video on screen, although I could still hear their audio. The caller's camera is switched on and they can see their video in the corner of their screen. I have tried making Facetime calls to two different iPhones and a MacBook using the Apple TV, but the same issue occurs, and all three devices are able to make calls to my Macs/iPhone without the issue occurring.

I am running an up to date OS (tvOS 18.5) and have tried restarting the Apple TV, but the problem persists.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: " ... so I guess I'm going to have to wait to see if it's fixed by the next update".

There's a couple of options:

(1) Apple TV Support have a website online for info. / support / contact options. To contact the experts: You can use the "Get support -start now" link at bottom right for online chat / phone / email etc.

Website: TV Support — Official Apple Support

(2) You can send feedback to reach those who work behind-the-scenes at Apple. (You could also include a link to this discussion thread.)Your feedback will be carefully read, and logged. If others are experiencing similar issues, and Apple has details of which hardware and software is affected we may indeed see an update which addresses the issue.

Seems there are various possible causes for the video not being shown, but which one in your case.

Wondering if your hardware and software still meets Apple's iOS 18 requirements:

Apple Support's online article for iOS 18: FaceTime app at a glance - Apple Support

Eg: says:

FaceTime requires an Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later) with tvOS 17.2 or later

and one of the following:

iPhone XR or later (including iPhone SE 2nd generation) with iOS 17;

iPad (8th generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later),

iPad Air (3rd generation and later),

iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later),

or iPad Pro 12.9-inch(3rd generation and later) with iPadOS 17.2.

If you haven't already: Use your iPhone or iPad as a web camera with Apple TV - Apple Support

Eg: says:

"You can set up an iPhone as a dedicated Apple TV Continuity Camera, always ready for FaceTime or compatible video conferencing apps. When you make an iPhone a dedicated camera, Apple TV has access to the iPhone’s camera, microphone and FaceTime favourites. (see above article for "How to")

Could the camera / video be "muted" ?

You may want to check the video settings are as you want them to be:

Change video settings on Apple TV

Here's Apple latest methods, in case something new has changed things for you.

Thanks for your suggestions, but the issue is definitely not the camera being turned off as I've done a few incoming test calls myself. And I don't think it's iOS either. The Apple TV is running 18.5 and the other people we're trying to Facetime are using the same hardware running the same iOS or newer as they were when we called them a month ago when their video was displaying at our end.

I will do a factory reset and report back.

Thanks for your suggestions, but I couldn't find anything amiss in video settings and it's a 3rd Gen Apple TV 4k that was running Facetime with with no issues for the best part of a year before the problem occurred. And the callers are using the same hardware (iphones and Macbooks) now as they were a few months ago, when their video was displaying.
