Double music purchases showing up in Music app

I just noticed a strange phenomenon with the last music purchases I made through iTunes Store. And it may have been going on for a while, judging from the "Show Duplicates" window. I have included a screenshot of what I see. There are two entries per song purchased; one downloaded and the other not. I don't understand why. If I look into the Music folder under the particulars artist/album there is only one file there.

I know that under the View menu I can pick just downloaded songs, but I have my preferences set up to where ALL songs are to be downloaded to my Mac.

Anyway I could use some insight.

Thanks.

All music is purchased from the iTunes Store on my desktop. I have not ever purchased music on either my iPad or iPhone.

The fundamental question is why are there two entries in the database; one showing that the song has been downloaded, and another entry showing the song is still in the “cloud.” Even Apple didn’t have an answer, or than a “technical glitch.”
