How to use a 2012 MacBook Pro as an external display for a non-working 2012 iMac?
Basically, title.
I have a 2012 iMac who's screen recently has just gone totally black. I hear the iMac turn on as well as the fans, however nada.
I'm essentially trying to export my data at this point from the iMac and call it a day. I'm having a hard time doing so.
I tried hooking up an external Lenovo 24" display via Mini Display Port to HDMI. Nada. I've tried several Command + F2 options but nothing.
I read older Macs can use Target Display Mode - So the question is - Can I? I currently have my 2012 MacBook Pro connected to Mini Display Port directly to Thunderbolt 2 on my iMac and want to see my iMac screen... unable to do so.
Bonus Question - How can I blindly log into my iMac? I have two accounts but can't manage to log in blindly (the screen is black)
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thought this would be so much easier but, *shrugs*
