Also, when you say "to a DVD", do you mean

  • A DVD-Video disc that just about any "regular" DVD or Blu-Ray player can play?
  • A DVD-ROM that has a video file on it that a computer can play?

Creating a DVD-Video disc requires the use of special authoring software, and it's been a long time since Apple got rid of iDVD – their consumer-level DVD-Video authoring tool for Macs. If your goal was to create a DVD-Video disc, or a Blu-Ray Video disc, you'd need third-party software to help do the job.

Hello.

Please help us help you:

— What Mac model and sub-model , including screen size and the year?

— What macOS version is it running>

— What screen content are you trying to capture? Some DRM-protected material may not allow exporting.

— iMacs made in 2012 and later do not have built-in optical drives. If you have those models, how are you planning to capture the video?

We are other end users like you with no way to "see" what device and software you are using without details only you can provide.

Also, this forum section is for a very limited-edition iMac with a black case and special internal component. If you do not have that special iMac, we need to get you moved to a more active forum section so you will get more views.
