Apple watch series 9 high battery cycle count

Dear Members, i bought Apple watch series 9 on 30 Jan 2025 and in span of 4 months, when i check the battery cycle count it is 148. Battery health is showing 100%. That comes to average of 37 counts per month. My usage is very limited as i only use during the office hour and shut down my watch in the evening. I have Ultra 1 refurbished also which i use and so not using my series 9 everyday. So in essence i charge my watch every 3 days and yet the battery cycle count is showing 148? How can it be. I charge usually from 15-18% to 95-97%.

Even if i charge everyday for 4 months, the battery cycle count average would be 120. Despite charging twice in a week for 4 months, the battery cycle count is high. Am i doing something wrong by shutting down the watch in the evening and starting again in the morning when i want to wear it?

The cycle count in Ultra1 is 492 and as i bought used so didnt check the counts but battery health was showing 100% and now has dropped to 98% straight away after the update. If Apple is saying battery count is good for 1000 cycles and it will show till then 80% then battery health in my Ultra 1 should be around 90%.

Kindly suggest me where am i going wrong?

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Analytics & Improvements -> Analytics Data
  2. You want to look for certain files whose name starts with “Analytics-yyyy-mm-dd-RandomNumber.ips.ca.synced (Note: the first line in the file should say “Watch OS …” This is how you verify that these are Apple Watch analytics)
  3. Look for the “last_value_CycleCount: “ value (it doesn’t seem to be generated in every analytic file, as I didn’t find it in the latest generated file)

You can change the extension to .txt and open and search

Make sure the file you are checking has watchos.

That isn’t a verified method of determining battery health charge cycles. Neither should you be looking around in the analytics, most times the information can’t even be understood by us. Only Apple can, and they use special software to decrypt the meaning of the logs.
