What is ~/Cloud-Drive folder on my MacBook Air?

I just notice a /Cloud-Drive folder in my root folder (~/). It has a "date modified" of March 1, 2025. I don't remember seeing it there before. I certainly didn't put it there.

Is this a new system folder? If so, what's it's purpose?

There is no "~/Cloud-Drive" on my Mac running macOS 15.5. It sounds like someone spoofing "iCloud Drive." But it's not!

Have you looked inside the folder? Are you sure it's a folder rather than an app? I'd do a ⌘i check to make sure it's a folder before clicking on it.

Thanks for letting me know, Richard.

I’ve discovered what the ~/Cloud Drive folder. It is used by iDrive, the cloud backup service; it enables syncing across devices for users who want to use that feature of iDrive.

Fortunately, all my devices are Apple and so far I have enough syncing across them without the need for any addition service.
