iPhone 16 Plus screen freezes after 18.5 update; Re-set doesn't help

I have had a 16 plus for about six weeks now. Problems from the very start with touch screen issues (not responding to my finger touch despite trying all alternatives in accessibility > touch) and screen freezes. Each week the issue seems to get worse. I tried re-set "all content and settings" to no avail. Now, after 18.5 download, the problem is at its worst AND when I swipe UP from the bottom of the screen, the home page will not launch. This is not an isolated issue, it happens all the time, 24/7. Rebooting does not help. Re-setting does not help. Does anyone know the resolution to this major "bug" (for me, it is far more serious than a bug). HELP!!!!! I hope apple engineers read these threads, evidently I am not alone in this screen freeze issue with 16 product line.

If you noticed the issues occurring from the start, you should have returned and exchanged it within the 14 day return period. While you are no longer in that, you still have the 1 Year Limited Manufacturers Warranty active, which covers any defects occurred in manufacturing. Take it to your nearest Apple Store and consult them, if they deem it a defect, they will either repair or replace it at no cost.

at the Genius Bar, they ran diagnostics on the phone, which showed no problem areas. I indicated that many people seem to have the same problem, but their resolution right now is the do a "restore" of the phone. Not a reset. I was afraid of this outcome, because in a restore you have to set up Apple Wallet all over again, and also set up apps as if you were entering them for the first time. I did not do it at the store, because I wanted too come home and write down all of my passwords first for all the sites and apps I use, as most of them will need to be re-initiated. My files and music and text messages and email are all in the cloud, so I will not lose any data. But still it is a pain to re-store a phone. If it does not work, I am going back to the Genius Bar and demand they give me a new phone, due to my Apple Care subscription.

AGREED, touch screen on 16e had problems from very start. Apple genius at store tested screen tracking and adjusted some sensitivity issues...bottom line is the screen is inconsistent in its response like a keyboard sniffer of days gone by. This is my 5th iPhone so I'm pretty sure I know how to fly...fwiw my wife's 13m now has the same issues on 18.5

please devote some resources to finding and fixing this annoying new "feature"
