How is the stability of FCP 11.1 on macOS 15.5?
I see that 15.5 is available for install. Tom, Luis, Joema, Ben, have you tried it with FCP 11.1?

Original Title: MacOS 15.5 and FCP 11.1?
It was reported on M2 Max and MacBook Pro M4 Air. I reproduced it on M1 Ultra. It might be Apple-Silicon specific. The test clip I used was 60 seconds, 4k/23.98 10-bit 4:2:2 HEVC. I plan on testing other codecs and machines, and isolating the version where this appeared (maybe 11.0?), but I haven't done that yet.
Since Apple Silicon was released, there have been several bugs specific to Apple Silicon (not Intel) and a few specific to M-series CPUs with multiple encode/decode units such as Max/Ultra. Recently, we had a bug reported that was unique to M4. So it can take considerable testing to feel out possible dependencies on specific M-series versions.

If the Japan user could take a spindump of FCP when hung, I'll examine it. Two ways to invoke spindump on Final Cut Pro: (1) From command line, (2) From Activity Monitor:
From command line (terminal):
From Activity Monitor:
Zip or compress file and upload to here: https://we.tl/r-SoCdwheEdK
Note: The app must be in a persistent hung state for at least 15 sec for this to have meaning. If it is only a 2-3 sec beachball, that's probably not long enough.
I reproduced the problem immediately with 4K media in a one hour timeline. M1 Max MBP, macOS 15.5, FCP 11.11.1.
It is very easy to reproduce. Steps:
I'm using this combo, no real issues so far. It's strictly a bug fix update, no new features, so not much to go wrong.
Just tried with 2160p25 (4K) and still can't get it to freeze. Plays perfectly wherever I click.
I have also tried adding the shape mask first but nothing untoward happens.

I updated to 15.5 two days ago. Since then Final Cut 11.1.1 isn't working anymore. I uninstalled and installed it again, no change. It opens, but when I click anything the beachball comes up and nothing is happening anymore. I tried it with the library on the local ssd and on an external ssd, no difference.
Before the update to 15.5 everything was fine. I didn't change anything else.
I would appreciate any help... Thanks you!
Start by deleting FCP preferences. It is probably better to start a new thread and include an Etrecheck report.
I have not noticed anything amiss but I only do basic editing.
Why not create a Volume on your boot drive to test 15.5 and 11.1
Report from Japan.:
Final Cut Pro 11.0以降、ブラーでガウスを適用し、シェイプマスクを追加すると必ずフリーズします•
When applying Gaussian and adding a shape mask in FCP11.1.1, it freezes.
The OP submitted two EtreCheck reports. What do you think is causing the crashes?
This one, which has not changed
Spindump has been uploaded.

I factory reset my MacBook Air, installed only FCP, and tried applying Gaussian →Shape. It doesn't seem to work 100% anymore, but it still freezes if I preview for a while after applying Gaussian →Shape, or move the seek bar several times while playing.

Does this phenomenon occur?

I haven't seen any new problems so far using MacOS 15.5 and FCP 11.1
FCP 11.1.1 adds a new feature. ADS! You'll sometimes get an ad for the iPad version of Final Cut if you open it without an active Library. I was hoping for ads and Apple delivered! I hope Mac OS itself gets ads right on the desktop soon.
Also I can put guassian blurs and shape masks on a clip and FCP does not freeze.
Exactly how were the shape mask and Gaussian blur used and what was the media?
I have just bunged a Gaussian blur and a shape mask onto a 1080p timeline and fiddled around but I can't get FCP 11.1.1 to do anything wrong other than create an appalling image.
