"FCP cannot be used because it's being upgraded"

FCP 10.4.6 on a Mac Mini 7,1 (OS 10.13.6).

When I try to open it, I get the alert "Can't Use FCP because it's being Upgraded". There is no upgrade available for this version, nor did I ask for one. This just happened a few days ago, after 7 years of great performance.

How do I break this hold.

TIA,

Earlier Mac models

Actually, your suggestion inspired me to do something quite simpler: go back a week in Time Machine and restore the app.Who's know where FPC got the idea that it was in the middle up an update.

I was also nervous that because Apple only supported its current versions, that there would be no such thing as a reinstallation of 10.4.6 from them. I'm safe for now.

Safe for now. Again, Matti Haveri, thanks for sending me in the right direction.
