Why is my Apple Music account constantly getting locked with too many devices?

My iPhone XR since not long before 18.4.1 has been lagging terribly, and Apple really wants me to upgrade my Music plan--notifying me constantly that I'm using too many devices because it gets left open in a desktop tab when I go to play from my phone.

On top of it all, my account is getting constantly locked.

Sure feels like I'm being forced to upgrade everything.

I literally just had a song stop playing on Music in a browser tab because Apple claims I'm trying to use Music on another device. The only other device is my phone, and the Music app wasn't loaded/active.
