Apple Books not working after update to 17.7.7

Apple Books stopped working after update of iPadOS to 17.7.7.

All books are labelled ‘New’ but cannot be opened.

How can I read my books?

Unable to open Current reads on Books after iPad update. I recently updated my ipad to iOS 17.4. After the update I was able to use apple Books to read epub files as normal. After closing the app fully though and trying to open the files, they now won't open at all. I can't get them to open from my library or from the continue reading section.
