What is the best way to bounce a mix to a file that anyone can listen to?

I did a mix, bounced it down and people are having a hard time opening it so they can listen to it, some have not been able to open it at all? Some people have told me they are getting a prompt that they need to "ask for permission" to listen to the file. How do I avoid this?

Thanks!

I agree with octopi. There should be no reason to alter the permissions of the file.

Where is OP storing the bounces? What path exactly?

There are rare circumstances where permission can be an issue, for example, when you put the bounced files into a shared folder and copy this folder for someone... But usually the project is located in the user folder or on an other folder/volume/drive that is not restricted. From there you should always able to copy the files and give them to someone else.

But Eddie, there's something else amiss here for the original poster.

You shouldn't have to go in and alter the permissions afterwards on every song file you export, plus, the ones you have screen shot shown above are not right either. It should be 755 perms not 777.

Proper perms for anyone to listen back to the song would be:

Owner read/write

staff read only

everyone read only

And that's how the permissions should be when exported which is why I asked the OP for some more information. Maybe also (original poster) what drive are you exporting them to? A connected external, the internal drive etc.

Asking the OP to export to the desktop to then compare the permissions to wherever they are currently saving them would be a fair point, to see if they differ. But we do need some more info before we can properly help Pumpkin permanently solve this.

I bounced it as a PCM file. Do I check the sharing/permission info the same way. A few people did say that they got a prompt about permission? Could be the problem?

Thanks for the help.

I did this almost 2 weeks ago, but someone I really wanted to hear it just can't seem to open it. I remember something about the file being too big so I think I was prompted to use google drive? Does any of that help/or make any sense?
